Holiday Cards for the Elderly

The holidays can be such a lonely time for so many. This year, the Be Good to People club wanted to try and change that in a small, but hopefully meaningful way. Getting together before the December holiday break, they worked for hours to create 143 holiday cards, candy canes included, for residents at a local nursing home. While we couldn't visit all of the residents, we are happy to know that a little light might have come into their lives with a wish for happy times.

Halloween Fun

The Be Good to People team was out and about this Halloween - incognito handing out candy in West Brookfield. On Halloween night, 2016, a group of students dressed up in costumes and brought some much needed cheer to the young people of West Brookfield and the surrounding towns. In a time of political, economic, and environment stress, it is wonderful to spend time coming together for some good fun.

Nice work everyone! :)

Please check out the design option for T-shirts for next school year and let me know what you think of them (please use the "comment" function below, message me on Remind, or DM me on Twitter). Once I here from a majority of you I will either return to the drawing board or we can gather sizes and get them ordered! This way we will be ready to hit the ground running when we return from the Summer vacation. Better to do this now than wait and forget about it.

Year at a Glance! 2015-2016

It has been an amazing year for Be Good to People (or the BG Peeps). With a tremendous increase in members in the club, more initiatives, drives, and donations have been this year than in any year previous in the club's humble history. From our successful second year of the Student Recognition for Kindness Bracelet Program, to 2,000 pairs of socks donated to Boston's homeless, to a school's worth of brand new ties awarded to The Nativity School of Worcester, this club has been on the move this school year! With so much enthusiasm for kindness, there is no stopping us now - next year is going to be bright and "blue"!

Next week's meeting (June 2nd) we will be selecting the Leadership Team for the new school year so keep an eye for their introductions to be up here soon.

Ties for Ties Success!

After a month-long fundraiser, Be Good to People students were able to raise enough money to purchase brand new ties, pens, pencils, and classroom boxes for each of the classes at The Nativity School. The guys at the school were great - so excited about learning and showing off their school to us. We learned so much from them and can't wait to do more with them next year. Thank you so much for having us guys!

Day of Kindness!

After our second successful year of the Kindness recognition program here at THS, we want to say thank you again to all those students and teachers out there who are doing good things! You are what make the world a brighter place so we hope this token of appreciation brightened your day.

A little thank you cupcake for being so sweet!

Relay for Life 2016

Another successful year at Relay for Life THS style! The Be Good team raised the 3rd highest amount of money ($2,717.55) to donate to American Cancer Society and we walked our collective feet off all night long. Great work everyone - time to gear up for next year.

Sock-it to 'em!

The "Sock Drive for the Homeless" here at Tantasqua was an incredible success! The wonderful opportunity of seeing Mike Smith (founder of the Skate for Change non-profit) at The Hanover Theatre in Worcester, MA with STUCO, Project Purple, and Be Good Students, inspired the group to come back with a goal - to make a change here in Massachusetts. The fundraising event was organized for the first two weeks after Winter break, the "Sock-o-meter" was created, the collections were in place, and we were off and running.

And after only two short weeks, the group was able to collect more than its original goal of 1,500 pairs of new socks - and came in with a total of 2,102 pairs of brand new, warm socks for the homeless. What a fantastic community!

2,102 pairs of brand new socks donated by THS students and staff!

What did we do with all of those socks?

Packed them up and brought them into Boston, where the homeless population has been sadly on the rise since the last census. Currently there are over 7,000 homeless men, women, and children on the streets of just this one city. But there are many organizations trying to help the best they can. One of those wonderful places is the Friends of Boston's Homeless Organization, which runs a shelter and a career center for the city's poorest residents. The Be Good team packed those socks up, brought them out to the shelter and donated time to their new career center too. They do such great work, and we look forward to helping them again next year!
